A staff writer for The New Yorker, they are also a regular contributor to The New York Times, The Washington Post, Harper’s, The New York Review of Books, Vanity Fair, Slate, and others. Gessen is the recipient of numerous awards, including Guggenheim and Carnegie fellowships, and teaches at Bard College in New York City. Their most recent book is “Surviving Autocracy.”
