Since the series debut in 2006, this title is the first to incorporate a 3D view and play-style on a handheld console reminiscent of its sister titles, Frontier and Oceans, for the Wii. Rune Factory 5 celebrates the series' 15th anniversary and closes a 9 year release gap between it and its most recent predecessor, Rune Factory 4, originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. Rune Factory is a series of fantasy adventure role-playing video games that feature elements of farming, dungeons, romance, crafting, and more. In "Rune Factory 5,” the protagonist awakens in the middle of an unrecognizable forest, hazy and with no clue as to how or why they have been summoned there. Despite having lost all personal memories, their heart remembers its foremost heroic nature, and the protagonist jumps to the aid of a lost, young girl--a resident of the nearby, humble town of Rigbarth. After being introduced to the entire town as a brave and gracious hero, the protagonist fits well into a SEED ranger uniform and agrees to undertake peacekeeping duties in and about the town.
