Another of the many uses that can be given to Dynamo, is to make tools that allow us to renumber the elements of the models (both Fabrication Parts and Families) and extract the properties of the ITMs to create spool drawings automatically. To create spool drawings, Revit provides the command to create Assemblies, in fact there are several add-ins that what they do is give them steroids to this command, but at the end of the day what they do is to use the same Assemblies concept. When I created this tool, I wanted to create spool sheets with two requirements: 1) Have more than one assembly per view, 2) Work with both FAB Parts and Families. This tool does not use the Assemblies command, it only creates views and schedules and applies filters to control the content of them. Dynamo gives me the freedom to modify the tool as needed, for example: 1) how to select the elements, 2) how and where to insert the views and BOM tables, 3) what types of views to insert (plan, iso, section), etc. In fact, one of the modifications I made, inserts Item Number tags automatically, although I prefer to do it manually to have more control in the appearance.
