Rooted in the traditional Bulgarian rain ritual Peperuda and reimagined through a contemporary lens, this projection mapping piece weaves folklore and visual poetry to explore climate, memory, and collective invocation. The work opens in drought: a spectral procession of clay figures rises from parched earth, embodying Gherman — spirit of dryness and stillness. From this barren silence emerges the Peperuda: a mysterious, butterfly-like dancer who invokes rain through movement, song, and communal ritual. Blending ancient symbolism with modern visual language, Peperuda: A Ritual for Rain is a sensory meditation on ecological harmony and spiritual continuity — where rain descends not only as water, but as ancestral memory returning to awaken the land. In September 2025, the show was awarded with Silver Prize on the Shining Shanghai’s International Light Art Championship. The show was selected among 154 works, submitted by artists and teams from 32 countries.
