Anadoluhisarı was built by Yıldırım Beyazıt in 1395 as an outpost. In the researches carried out in the area where the castle is located, no more ancient remains were found. The purpose of Yıldırım Beyazıt to have this castle built was to control the Bosphorus crossings and to prevent the entrance to the Göksu Valley. This castle, which was known as Güzelcehisar in the history of Pasha, was also named Gözlücehisar. In the history of Nişancı Mehmet Pasha, the construction date of the castle was stated as 1394-1395.Tursun Bey, one of the historians of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet period, referred to this place as Yenihisar or Yenicehisar. Hoca Sadettin Efendi also referred to this place as Akçahisar. After the Battle of Ankara between Yıldırım Beyazıt and Timur in 1402, the castle remained under Ottoman rule.In this period, as the Ottoman Principality came to the stage of disintegration, places such as Kartal and Pendik, which were close to Istanbul, were returned to the Byzantines in order to provide the support of Süleyman Çelebi, but the status of the castle in this period is unknown. It is also stated in some sources that Süleyman Çelebi stayed here for a while. While Fatih Sultan Mehmet was having Rumelihisarı built, he also surrounded Anadoluhisarı with a Hisarpeçe. With the cannons placed behind this wall, it was ensured that the ships passing through the Bosphorus were opened fire when necessary. After the conquest of Istanbul, this castle ceased to function and was used as a prison for criminal Janissaries for a while. XVII-XVIII. It was used to prevent the Cossack raids towards the Bosphorus for a while in the centuries, then lost its importance with the construction of the castle and fortifications at the entrance of the Bosphorus. XVI. With the settlement of soldiers and families in and around the fortress in the 19th century, this place became a small neighborhood. During the reign of Mehmet the Conqueror, a small mosque was built in front of the fort and this place was recorded as Anadoluhisarı Mescidi Mahallesi. Anadoluhisarı was built according to the castle architecture in Ottoman architecture. In its first construction, it consisted of a square planned tower and surrounding walls. Since the place where the castle was located at that time was a rocky promontory, it is thought that the sea reached the fortification walls. The alluvium brought by Göksu Stream later changed the location of the land, the walls of the castle were filled and the castle remained in the interior.
