This is a version of Dr. Dan Siegel's Hand Model of the Brain "Don't Flip Your Lid". I'm a special education teacher and mindfulness instructor explaining how our brain and emotions are linked and what we can do to remain calm so we don't "flip our lids" and how to self-regulate if we DO flip our lids. (At the end of the video I could have said "breathe in through your nose and out through your MOUTH." Breathing out through the mouth stimulates the vagus nerve which is the longest cranial nerve that runs down through the neck to the abdomen. Stimulating the vagus nerve can calm us down such as exhaling air, especially with a sigh or a hum which we do naturally when stressed.)
