Performed by Professors Elizabeth Pfaffle, horn, Dan Cherry, trombone, and Jonathan Fowler, tuba on February 18, 2025 at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. "Elegy" was composed in memory of Dr. John Allen Seidel (1948-2016.) John was the long-time professor of trombone at Ball State University. He performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and with various orchestras including the Indianapolis Symphony. The composer knew John dating back to their days as students at West Chester State College in Pennsylvania in the late 1960’s. Over the years they collaborated on several compositions. This lyrical and heart-felt work showcases the beautiful sonority of the chamber ensemble. The character of the music is meditative, reflective, and at times conveys a hint of reverence.
