Bed Lift for DYI Camper Van

   • Van build series   Bed lift under 500 euros. Planning our van build we realized that we don't want to make our bed every morning and evening from 5-6 different cushion's into one mattress. We decided to build a bed lift mechanize so we could have comfortable bed and big living area with table for work and meals. We bought 4 linear actuators (12V, 75 cm long, each holding 200 kg weight), Ikea wooden bed frame (NEIDEN) and bed slats. We had to shorten the bed because we only left 190 cm length for the bed. Also we made extra wooden brackets to support linear actuators tops which hold the bed. We secured legs with wooden blocks to the ground and sitting area walls. When bed is in the day stage (next to the ceiling) we still have about 1 meter height for sitting next to the table. Lifting the bed uses 5 amps power and takes about 1,5 minute. The total cost for the electric bed lift is 450 euros (100 eur bed, 350 eur linear actuators). Extra cost for your specific mattress and screws. Thank you for watching our van build journey!
