The Ecoray 72DX and 112DX are high PAR LED lighting fixtures for reef aquariums. Ecoray fixtures were designed to be an economical replacement to metal halide lighting. The Ecoray 72DX fixture is capable of producing 400+ PAR value at 24" from center which is 60% brighter than a typical 250 watt halide. The 112DX is capable of 500+ PAR at 24" from center. The housing of these fixtures is 100% aluminum and the units measure: 72DX - 19.2" x 11.2" x 2.6", 112DX û 22.1" x 14.0" x 2.6" with 2 fans built-in to the top, so it functions as its own heat sink. The 72DX will draw 76 watts of power and the 112DX 130watts. The life expectancy of the bulbs is about 50,000 hours which works out to running your lights 12 hours per day for a little over 11 years without replacing bulbs. In a metal halide fixture, you are replacing bulbs once every 10 months and the bulb draws 250 watts of power for less light this fixture can give you. The savings really adds up between using far less energy and not having to replace bulbs, typically one of these fixtures will pay for itself in about a year and a half of use. All the LED chips are on individual circuits, so if there is a failure it does not affect any other LED's in the unit. Each LED can be replaced with just a screwdriver. The light spectrum of this system with both the blue and white lights lit up is roughly 25,000 K. This fixture also has the wonderful advantage of giving the same shimmering water effect that a metal halide provides. The Ecoray High Par LED lighting fixture is very capable of growing both hard and soft corals, including acropora, as well as clams. With the reduced heat output will no longer require the use of a chiller further reducing the cost of setting up a reef aquarium as well as reducing the cost to run an existing aquarium.
