Here's the last 26 minutes of a first-run episode of the short-lived live action Spider-Man (AKA "The Amazing Spider-Man") series (starring Nicholas Hammond as the titular web-spinner and his alter ego, Peter Parker), "The Captive Tower," (S02E01) as aired over the CBS Network via affiliate WCIA Channel 3 in Champaign, IL. Based on the famous Marvel comic book character. Also featured in this clip is the opening moments of The CBS Tuesday Night Movies presentation of the made-for-TV movie "Happily Ever After" starring Suzanne Somers and Bruce Boxleitner - and with a very short-lived (1977-78) opening title sequence in fancy script (and equally short-lived theme). First to the show: This episode's plot anticipated by some 10 years that of the movie "Die Hard" [1988], wherein terrorists take over control of a computer that controls a fully automated office tower that just opened, and lock everybody (including Peter's editor J. Jonah Jameson) in the building in a room, threatening to kill them all if they don't get the money. Natch' (as co-creator Stan Lee would put it), it's up to you-know-who to save the day. About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television: The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: [email protected] Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation.
