The talk will explore challenges related to the long-term usability of research software and introduce an approach that combines Docker and Guix to preserve functionality and ensure reproducibility. A central element of the case study is REEuse, a tool developed to automate the creation and execution of reproducible environments based on a manifest file. This session will offer insights into the benefits and limitations of REEs, and discuss how this workflow might be adapted for broader research contexts.
