She founded the Provincetown Players with her husband George Cram Cook, which is considered the first modern American theatre company. She was well-known for her short stories, and her play “Alison's House” (1930) earned her the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Glaspell is recognized as a pioneering feminist writer and one of America's first modern female playwrights.
