The blaze rapidly spread across forest areas near Pasighat, threatening nearby villages due to strong winds and difficult terrain. With narrow mountain paths and limited ground access, conventional firefighting methods became nearly impossible. To control the fire, the Indian Air Force deployed its powerful Mi-17 V5 helicopters, which carried out multiple sorties and dropped nearly 66,000 liters of water over the flames. Despite challenges like low visibility, thick smoke, and steep mountainous terrain, the pilots successfully carried out precise water drops to stop the fire from spreading further.
