A shocking daylight armed robbery has been reported from Halasangi village in Chadachan taluk of Vijayapura district. The incident comes soon after a major 7 kg gold robbery in Hunsur, raising serious concerns about rising armed crime in the state. According to reports, two robbers arrived on a motorcycle wearing helmets and carrying a loaded country-made pistol. The accused entered a gold shop owned by Maharudra Kanchagar and threatened those present by pointing the firearm. A senior woman inside the shop was allegedly threatened and forced to flee from the spot. When the shop owner and locals attempted to intervene, the armed robbers fired two rounds into the air to create panic. During the chaos, a local resident identified as Atmalinga Hoogar sustained a bullet injury to the leg. The incident triggered fear across the village. The accused fled the scene with approximately 205 grams of gold and one kilogram of silver. Preliminary investigation suggests that the gang may have escaped toward the Maharashtra border, posing a major challenge for police authorities. Following the incident, police teams led by Superintendent of Police Lakshman Nimbargi rushed to the spot and conducted a detailed inspection. A case has been registered at Zalaki Police Station, and special teams have been formed to track down the armed suspects. The incident highlights the growing threat of gun-related crimes and increasing risks faced by jewellery shop owners.
