See below for statement from darTZeel about the state of the company. Our initial question leading to this review was "what happens when a company known for 'the best of the best' electronics makes a relatively affordable, easy-to-live-with product at 1/15th (~7%) of their top price level?" Are we talking triumph or tragedy? Let’s see. As background, we heard this amp at Axpona in April 2024 and requested a review sample for early summer 2024. This timing fit with the schedule for building our new listening room #2. darTZeel dutifully delivered the LHC-208, but construction delays meant that we started the review process later than planned, in September. We completed and filmed the review in the first week of October. Then on October 16, darTZeel announced changes to their operations: "I, Hervé Delétraz, founder and creator of the darTZeel brand, have decided that [the former] business model no longer aligns with my vision of Extreme High End. Not only will the darTZeel brand continue to exist, but it will also change its paradigm by focusing on new concepts, which for now will remain undisclosed for obvious reasons. What you need to know now are the following: 1. darTZeel is more alive than ever, and legendary customer service remains unchanged. 2. Current production of the NHB, CTH, and LHC series will now be made only on demand. (For existing customer): It is strongly advised not to sell off your darTZeel equipment on AudiogoN or elsewhere, because from now on, owning a darTZeel instrument is an investment. 3. A new line of instruments, aimed at a broader audience, is currently under study. Stay tuned! darTZeel instruments are made in Geneva to last forever. Period."
