Meet Nadia Thompson, Corporate Administrative Assistant at Misericordia Health Centre and Chair and Program Director of Black History Manitoba. With more than 19 years of experience in healthcare and over 18 years of dedicated service with Black History Manitoba, Nadia is a passionate advocate who works tirelessly to amplify Black voices—within our health system and throughout our communities. Her leadership, commitment and compassion help foster greater awareness, inclusion and equity for all. February marks Black History Month, a time to celebrate the diverse achievements and invaluable contributions of Black communities in Canada and around the world. The 2026 theme, “Rooted in Legacy – Honouring a Century of Black History, 45 Years Strong in Manitoba,” invites us to reflect on the resilience, excellence and lasting impact of Black communities—and the vital role Black history observances have played in shaping awareness, visibility and social progress in Canada and beyond. We celebrate Nadia and the meaningful difference she continues to make in healthcare and in our community.
