The Queen and King have graced their loyal fans with their presence today. It appears Jackie's smudge is back in about the same place - this makes for a convenient ID field mark. 🙃 Eagles often scratch heads with talons because they cannot preen their own heads with their own beaks. Talons often pick up dirt, mud and sap. If this spot is just dirt, it may wash away quickly. Sap, on the other hand, may be quite persistent and stay until the next molt as we observed last season. ℹ️Nest visits in September-October are historically quite sporadic, typically in the early mornings and late evenings, with days and sometimes weeks between visits. Regular nestorations with daytime visits normally begin in mid-November.
