Best World War 2 Submachine Guns: 10.MAS-38 The MAS 38 is a blowback operated fully automatic only weapon. The MAS-38 is feeding from a double feed 32 round magazines. Production ended in 1946. The French police continued to use the MAS-38 after World War 2 until it was replaced in the 19 50's. 9.Suomi KP/-31 The Suomi KP/-31 is regarded by many as one of the most successful submachine gun of World War 2. The Suomi is a blowback operated selective fire weapon. The Suomi KP/-31 was a highly effective,reliable and accurate gun but too expensive to manufacture. 8.Owen Machine Carbine The Owen has a simple blowback design, and fires from an open bolt. It's easily recognizable, owing to its unconventional appearance, including the top-mounted magazine. It was the only entirely Australian-designed submachine gun and was used by the Australian Army from 1943 until the mid-1960s. 7.Beretta Model 38 Beretta Model 38 submachine gun is blowback operated, selective fired weapon which fires from open bolt. All variants had dual triggers. The front one for semiauto fire and the rear for full auto and all were chambered for 9x19 Parabellum. 6.Sten The Sten is a blowback-operated submachine gun firing from an open bolt. It was used extensively by British and Commonwealth forces throughout World War 2 and the Korean War. It was replaced in the British Army by the Sterling SMG from 1953 and was gradually withdrawn from British service in the 1960's. 5.Thompson M1A1 The Thompson M1A1 was favored by soldiers for its accuracy and high volume of automatic fire which was achieved thanks to usage of the powerful 45 ACP round. The Thompson M1A1 was fed from double-row box magazines containing 20 or 30 rounds. 4.M3 Grease Gun The M3 Grease Gun is an American submachine gun designed in 1942. The M3 is an automatic, air cooled blowback operated weapon what fires from an open bolt, it's chambered for the same 45 caliber round fired by the Thompson submachine gun but was lighter and cheaper to produce. 3.PPSh-41 PPSh-41 a selective fire submachine gun introduced in 1941 using open bolt blow back action. Can be loaded with either 35 round box or 71 round drum magazine and fires the powerful 7.62x25 millimeter Tokarev pistol round. The PPSh-41 is capable to fire thousand round per minute. 2.MP 40 The MP 40 is an open-bolt 9x19 millimetre submachine gun. It's durability made it a standard German smg during the whole World War II. Together with the Mauser K98k had a big influence in development of the first assault rifle which was the Stg44. 1.PPS-43 The PPS-43 is a full-automatic only weapon based on simple blowback principle and is fired from the open bolt.
