In this episode of NBC's 'George to the Rescue': Meet the Hajjaj-White family — a household built on resilience, sacrifice, and unshakable love. Khadijah (Gigi), a U.S. Navy veteran who recently retired after 26 years of service, has spent her life protecting her country and caring for her family. Alongside her daughters — Zirah, Alinah, and the youngest, Inayah — and husband Chandel, Gigi has faced life’s toughest battles with grace and grit. Then, when Inayah was diagnosed with a brain tumor at just 3½ years old, their entire world changed overnight. After years of surgeries and treatment, this brave girl, once unable to walk or talk, has made remarkable strides as she regained her strength, voice, and joyful spirit. She still faces daily challenges, but never without her signature spark. However, the family’s home has not been keeping up with their growing needs…and certainly not with Inayah’s. Frozen pipes, inaccessible bathrooms, and cramped bedrooms became daily hurdles. So we were thrilled for the opportunity to provide this loving family with they’ve long given others: support, relief, and a little peace of mind. We joined forces with architectural designer James Stanley, muralist Corey Paige, Comcast, Xfinity, California Closets, Sur La Mur, New York BSF, and a host of generous teams to transform their residence into a more welcoming space. This included: plumbing repairs, a new accessible bathroom for Inayah, personalized bedroom makeovers for each sister with features that beautifully capture their unique personalities, and special design nods to Gigi’s remarkable military career. Together as a community, we not only renovated a house; we helped rebuild hope and provide comfort and joy for an incredibly sweet and courageous family.
