One of the first memories from the 'Count Me In Summit' that stuck with Trinity Johnson was a simple statement made by Director A’ric Jackson. “A legacy isn’t something you leave when you die, but something you leave when you walk out of a room.” Once a shy student who couldn’t stand in front of a classroom and speak, Trinity was at a Student Council meeting when she first heard about this experiential youth leadership training camp where students learn to recognize and embrace their individual strengths and weaknesses. “I wasn’t really sure what to expect going in,” she recalls. “It probably was one of the best risks I’ve taken in my life because I feel like it’s when you don’t know exactly what you are getting yourself into that you learn the most.” What started as a small project, Count Me In has evolved into a global phenomenon, now the largest youth-led organization in the world, committed to transforming the way teens see themselves in connection to the world through volunteerism, community, and mentorship. Since their first program in 2011, Count Me In Community Members have organized and supported hundreds of service projects, changing the lives of the teens involved and showing them how much influence they can have on changing the lives of others.
