Here's an IFR flight from Boeing Field (KBFI) in Seattle to Grant County International Airport (KMWH) at Moses Lake, WA, in the center of the state. As is often the case, the cloudy skies in the Seattle cleared as I crossed the Cascade Mountains via the T268 RNAV route, and Moses Lake was under clear, if somewhat blustery skies. KMWH, formerly Larson AFB, is a huge airport. In the SAC days, it was home to B-52s, and it still has alert pads and a 13,500-ft main runway designed to accommodate those strategic bombers. Today Boeing uses the airport as a test and training facility. The Air Force and Army also visit frequently. And the airport, with its huge expanses of pavement, is also a temporary storage facility for scores of B737 Max aircraft awaiting delivery. Watch to the end of the video and you'll see rows of 737s in dozens of liveries lined up adjacent to the taxiways. KMWH has a complex runway and taxiway layout. As you'll see, I was cleared to land on runway 18, which is really a landing strip painted on a taxiway, while a Boeing jet and C-17 transport flew approaches to the main runway.
