IAF Moves To Replace Two Decades Old VIP Fleet, New Jets By 2029

The Indian Air Force has formally begun the process to replace its ageing VIP transport fleet, issuing a Request for Information for four to six new long-range business jets. The current fleet four Embraer Legacy 600 jets named Meghdoot, Vayudoot, Nabhdoot and Gagandoot were inducted in 2005 and are now due for phased replacement. The new jets will serve senior cabinet ministers and the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force. They are distinct from Air India One, reserved exclusively for the President, Vice President and Prime Minister.
