5 N64 Games that Have reddit.https://www.dualshockers.com/n64-game... In no particular order, Mario Party 2 gets us started. I love Mario Party of any era, but Mario Party 2 will always have a special place in my heart. It is my go to, preferred party game, even to this day. I can say from experience this game still holds up. I have two brothers, 10 and 12, and we recently beat every board in Mario Party 2 and they loved it. When we were done they immediately asked when are we moving on to Mario Party 3. If you get the N64, you need a party game. A lot of people will say, Goldeneye, Mario Kart or Smash Brothers. Those games are all great and should absolutely be a part of your collection, but if you could only have 1, Mario Party 2 gets my vote! Next up are the Pokemon Stadium games. People still say this game has the best Pokemon animation, especially the fainting animations. The announcer is a legend. Since most of the formats are battling, they were not hampered by the jump to 3D. In fact, this presentation style works really well. The mini games and trivia are still a blast to go back and play. I'll be the first to admit, I wanted a sprawling 3D adventure for Pokemon on the home console and we never really got that. Something like Earthbound meets Pokemon Colosseum is what I wanted, but I'm gonna be honest, I think going to the Stadium route helped these games age incredibly well. I know with Pokemon Stadium 1 the rental Pokemon move sets have been the discussion of videos in the past. That's probably my only gripe with the game. The game modes, the animations, and honestly just the fun factor all have aged insanely well. Paper Mario- I'm not a big RPG guy, but Paper Mario will always be one of my favorite RPGs. I've always said I go back and forth between this and Thousand Year Door as my favorite, I often find myself saying OG Paper Mario. The allies, the writing, and the graphics I think have all stood the test of time. I wouldn't say the graphics were impressive for the year it came out, as it was already the 2000s and the Gamecube was just around the corner. But I think storybook graphics and turn based combat is what allowed this game to age so gracefully. I got to give some love to Kirby 64. In a world of massive 3D worlds, realistic graphics, and new controls, Kirby played it simple. Choosing to rely on great level design, a power fusing mechanic for unlimited creativity and problem solving and just being a fun time, Kirby 64 has aged to perfection. This is still my 2nd favorite Kirby game behind just Forgotten Lands for all the reasons I said a moment go. It's quick to jump into, you start having fun immediately, there's so many puzzles, awesome enemies, and unique powers, I rarely getting bored playing Kirby 64. In fact, I would say it's probably the easiest and best N64 game to get to just jump into playing. It wasn't bogged down by all the latest trends in the industry at the time. And most importantly, it's just a fun game. Of course number 1 on my list is Ocarina of Time. This game was a master piece in the 90s when it first game and honestly is still just as good. Nintendo created something truly special here. It lives up to the hype. Compare it to the other major players of the time like Mario 64. Mario 64 is amazing and still fun to play, but it definitely shows it's age in certain spots. Graphically I think it looks superior to Final Fantasy 7. FF7 still holds up from its narrative and gameplay aspects, but I just think Ocarina of Time looks far superior in my opinion. And I think that's why I'm gushing so much about it. When you look at the rest of my list, it's a game that didn't take a lot of chances. Kirby staying in 2D, Paper Mario going with a cartoonish look. That wasn't Ocarina of Time's style. They were bold, they took chances, they pushed boundaries. They invented the Z target lock up to help combat on a 3D space, the camera work is smooth like the movements. The story is large and grand, just like the near open world. The dungeons, songs and items are all iconic. In fact, I'm not really sure what complaints a gamer would have with Ocarina of Time. It was following Nintendo's major successful release of Mario 64 and even followed up a Zelda juggernaut in A Link to the Past. It had such large shoes to fill, such tall acts to follow and it became a master class in video games all to itself. I thought about doing a video on why Ocarina of Time is the greatest game of all time. Coverage on Ocarina of Time feels a little overplayed, but if you guys wanted to see it, I could probably do that video.
