Running Local Freights on the Forest & Western Railroad

The Forest & Western Back Yard Railroad can be operated over several different routes depending on the wishes of participating enthusiasts and visitors. Casual riders are usually not interested in the back-and-forth movements needed for switching, but prefer continuous running. Therefore, routes on the F&W include (1) a 700 foot continuous loop, (2) a longer continuous loop-to-loop route of perhaps 2000 feet, and (3) a point to point route of perhaps 1800 feet in each direction. Routes (2) and (3) cover some track once in each direction. In this video, Local freight trains run from Western eastward to Forest and from Forest westward to Western delivering and picking up cars along the way. The young men operating the eastbound local freight paid close attention to their duties and did an excellent job of following prototypical railroad practice. Thanks fellows!
