Mayan Pyramids of Chichén Itzá | Travels with Brandon and Dani Brandon and I had been wanting to go to Chichén Itzá ever since we saw it on Expedition Unknown (Shoutout to Josh Gates). So, for our birthdays last year we decided to go to Tulum and now we are sharing a tour of Chichén Itzá. The archaeological site is located in Tinúm Municipality, Yucatán State, Mexico and is easily accessible to tourists. It's about a two hour drive from the heart of Tulum. We recommend stopping at a few of the cenotes on the way back and making it a full day of exploring. We hired a private tour guide, which was actually really affordable. I 100% recommend doing that because there are way more ruins than I anticipated and it was nice to have someone explain what everything was as we walked around. It took us a couple of hours to see most of it. Pro tips: 1. Go early in the morning to beat the sun and the crowds 2. Bring a hat or buy one at the entrance...you will get burnt without one 3. Wear lots of sunscreen and bring water 4. Put on your walking shoes because you are in for a hike Those who are looking to capture video, heads up no drones are allowed anymore. It is highly commercialized now, so if you are looking for something a little more off the beaten path we recommend Coba. Video on that trip coming soon!
