2026 Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake With EQ Technology: Range, Charging Speed, and Why No Rival Exists

Every other manufacturer abandoned the compact premium estate. BMW killed theirs. Audi never made one. Volkswagen discontinued the Arteon Shooting Brake. Mercedes responded by building the first all-electric one, and calling it the CLA Shooting Brake with EQ Technology. In this walkaround from the Graz Motor Show, we go through every detail of the 2026 Mercedes CLA 250+ Shooting Brake in Cosmos Black with AMG Line trim. 268 HP from a single rear motor, 761 km WLTP range from an 85 kWh battery, and 800-volt architecture supporting 320 kW DC charging. 10 minutes at a fast charger adds 310 km of range. The interior gets the full MBUX Superscreen with three displays, sports seats with red contrast stitching, drilled aluminum pedals, and a panoramic glass roof with 158 embedded LED stars synchronised with the ambient lighting. Boot space is 455 litres (1,290 with seats folded), plus a 101-litre frunk under the bonnet. The car is bigger than its predecessor in every dimension but the boot is 30 litres smaller due to battery packaging.
