(July 2025) Takeoff from : runway 03L at ATH Landing at : runway 33 at JTR Seat number : 18A Taken on : 3th July 2022 Filmed with : Iphone 12 PRO MAX, Canon SX540HS, GoPro Hero 9 Conclusion : A short domestic hop with Aegean Airlines from Athens to Santorini aboard their very first A320neo, delivered in 2020. I had just arrived from Basel on an Aegean A320, which parked at a remote stand. Luckily, the bus drop-off was near my next gate. Boarding was slightly delayed due to operational issues, and surprisingly, the flight was overbooked by more than 20 passengers. Staff looked for volunteers to switch to the next Olympic Air ATR 72 flight in exchange for flight vouchers. Fortunately, I wasn’t affected. Boarding was by bus, and while the window dots on the bus made spotting hard, stepping outside gave a great view of the aircraft. Windy conditions and disorganized boarding meant I quickly accessed my seat from the rear. The A320neo cabin has a 3-3 layout with dark blue comfortable seats. Legroom was tight, but there was a device holder, USB-A port, coat hook, and modern overhead panel. The seat could recline. Sadly, the IFE monitor was gone (unlike on the CEO), and there was some kind of a small IFE box under the seat which took up foot space. The seat pocket had a magazine, safety card, sick bag, and Wi-Fi instructions. A pleasant surprise: the crew handed out kids’ coloring books. Service consisted only of a water bottle. I expected a small snack, especially since Sky Express offers biscuits on the same route. Wi-Fi was available with a short free access period and included a moving map and video content. Aegean later removed the free 10 min wifi by 2025. Despite a 35-minute delay, the flight offered beautiful views of the Aegean Sea and islands on descent. Deboarding was again by bus, with music playing in the cabin — a nice touch. Overall, a decent short flight, though the tight seating might be less comfortable on longer routes. © Aviation LF 2025 You can share this video.
