📍 Where is Simala Shrine? Simala Shrine (Monastery of the Holy Eucharist) is located in Barangay Lindogon, Municipality of Sibonga, about 50–60 km south of Cebu. 🙏 Why was Simala Shrine built? The shrine was built by Marian monks in the early 1990s. In 1998, Cebu was hit by a dengue outbreak. The monks prayed fervently to the Blessed Virgin Mary for protection. Afterward, the area experienced reported healings and a dramatic decrease in dengue cases. Because of this, devotion to Our Lady of Lindogon grew rapidly. Many devotees also believe in miraculous healingsafter praying there.Out of gratitude and faith, the shrine was developed into what it is today - a place of prayer, hope, and thanksgiving. That’s why many people visit barefoot, offer flowers, or leave written prayers and thanksgiving letters. 🚗 How to get there? From Cebu City (DIY / Commute) Option 1: Bus 1. Go to South Bus Terminal. 2. Ride a bus bound for Sibonga / Simala (ask the conductor). 3. Get off at Simala junction. 4. From the junction, take: Habal-habal (motorbike) or Tricycle 5. Travel time: around 2–2.5 hours total Option 2: Private Car / Taxi Drive south via Cebu South Road. Follow signs to Simala Shrine once you reach Sibonga. Travel time: about 1.5–2 hours, depending on traffic. 📝 Important reminders Dress modestly (covered shoulders, no short shorts). Silence and respect are strongly observed. Best time to visit: early morning or weekdays (less crowd). *Bring water and umbrella Sundays and Marian feast days can get very crowded.
