Furthermore, the cigars have been stored in a Boveda acrylic humidor with 69% Boveda packs for a period of three weeks to ensure that they were properly acclimated and ready to be evaluated. 00:52 Cigar Overview Puro Sol means "pure sun" in Spanish and likely refers to the Ecuadorian habano wrapper. It features Dominican filler and binder. Meanwhile, the cigar in this review is a 7 x 52 double corona but it's also available as a robusto, belicoso, and Churchill vitola. 02:21 Prelight Great airflow on the dry draw. It features flavours of buttercream, cinnamon, and terracotta. 02:51 Tasting Notes The first third delivers nutmeg spice, charred thyme, and terracotta. At the halfway point, the second third's notes are reminiscent of charred bay leaf, cacao nib, and molasses. Eventually, the final third settles on cacao, rosewood, and caramel. While not an overly complex cigar, the Puro Sol is very pleasant to smoke with identifiable notes to enjoy throughout the experience. It features a smooth and velvety mouthfeel, which increases in weight as you progress. Palate stimulation is balanced overall but it may lean slightly towards the front of the tongue. 07:22 Burn The Puro Sol offers a consistent burn line and smoking temperature. Its backbone produces beautiful ash and the burn line was occasionally wavy but never needed touching up. 07:57 Overall Experience The cigar features a classic Ashton bang with its regal and luxurious presentation. The wooden box is decorated by a larger version of the band with nice attention to detail inside. The double corona costs around $13 whereas other vitola will be less. Expect to pay around $250 to $300 for a box. Given the luxurious and premium feel, it's a worthwhile investment. 09:56 Pairings As a great after-lunch digestif choice, opt for desserts like tiramisu, chocolate chip cookie, or a savoury dish like lamb shank. Meanwhile, preferred beverages are a light cognac, floral Irish whiskey, or even root beer. Already tried the Ashton Heritage Puro Sol cigar or have any questions?
