Advanced Composite products are increasingly moving toward multi-material and multi-process concepts. A well-known application is a composite pressure vessel, that can be optimized to increase production speed and save material, by combining high-speed filament winding, with precise local reinforcement in the dome areas using AFP. Since 2007, TANIQ develops multi-process and multi-material manufacturing solutions, supporting advanced design and manufacturing projects. Our latest solution for the Composites Industry combines high-speed filament winding (FW), localized fiber placement (AFP), and rubber winding in a single integrated software and robotic solution. By integrating multiple processes in just a single software environment and machine, our clients benefit from a unified workflow, significantly reduced risks of error and much shorter project timelines. In this video, Soren Blomaard - TANIQ's co-founder breaks down how these processes are integrated at TANIQ, and what our clients can expect to achieve with our solution. ----------------------- Contact us: Email: info@taniq.com Website: composites.taniq.com Telephone: +31 10 415 6170 LinkedIn: / taniq ----------------------- Video transcription: To meet the increasing performance requirements of advanced composites products, they now more often rely on using multiple materials and multiple processes like filament winding, AFP, rubber winding. The challenge lies in how these different design and manufacturing processes are integrated. The challenge is that now each of these processes requires their own software tool and their own machine to manufacture the part. Using the different software packages requires data handovers and manual manipulations of the data. Also, all the different processes have a different machine which requires manual changeovers. Altogether, they make it a very risk-sensitive process, increasing also the production and lead times. Imagine that, instead of using multiple software environments and machines, you would only have one single software and one machine. That is what TANIQ is doing. Since 2006, TANIQ has integrated multiple processes and materials into a single workflow for our clients, so they can design and manufacture composite products only using a single software package and a single robotic system. With our TaniqWind Pro software, engineers finally have a solution wherein they can combine multiple processes, filament winding layers, AFP layers, and rubber winding layers, in a single workflow. The unified design that they make, they can create an FEA export with that, or they can directly export the machine programs to the robotic system. The main advantage in the production phase is now we have a single machine for all the different processes. The robot itself automatically changes between a filament winding head, an AFP head, and a rubber winding head. And this also means that you don’t have any mandrel changeovers in the process. Instead of connecting different software tools and machines, manufacturers now have one integrated solution, reducing the complexity at both the engineering and the manufacturing level. For already 20 years, our vision has been the integration of multiple materials and multiple processes into a single technology platform. Therefore, we have combined our TaniqWind Pro software and our robotic platform, wherein we can develop such a unified solution for our clients. Our vision is that the next generation of advanced composite products will be defined by hybrid designs combining multiple materials and multiple processes. Today we already combine filament winding, AFP, rubber winding, and we are already preparing for the next processes. So this is only the start.
