Jo is a Professor of Visual Analytics at City University London. His research and teaching interests are in the design and construction of visualization for exploring, analysing and communicating patterns in complex datasets. He has particular interests in visual analytics of data that have a geographic component. He is the course director of the postgraduate degree in Electronic Publishing that enables students to develop their skills in assembling data, stories and services for electronic media. When not working he can often be found cycling around the UK. In recent years he has been lucky enough to combine work and play by collaborating with planners and transport agencies developing visual analytics applications for understanding cyclists' travel behaviour. About TEDx In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
