Pentax ME Super Focusing Screen Replacement I this video I will be demonstrating in the best of my abilities how to replace the Pentax ME Super focusing screen. Replacing the focusing screen on a Pentax ME Super requires significant camera disassembly and desoldering, as it is not designed as a user-interchangeable part. Please refer to this video link:    • Pentax ME Super Sticky Shutter Repair   🛠️ Required Tools & Precautions ✅ Tools: You will need a set of precision screwdrivers (JIS type is recommended), fine-tipped tweezers, a rubber grip/pad, and a soldering iron. Links below. ✅ Caution: The focusing screen is extremely delicate; avoid touching the optical surface with bare hands. The internal components of the ME Super, including a flexible circuit board (flex board), are sensitive and can be easily damaged. Organizing all screws and parts is crucial, as they are not all the same.  ⚙️ Step-by-Step Instructions 1. Preparation and Top Cover Removal Remove Batteries: Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries. Remove Film Rewind Crank: Open the camera back. Secure the film rewind mechanism with a flat tool (e.g., a screwdriver blade inserted into the fork) and unscrew the rewind crank counterclockwise. Unscrew the ring beneath the crank using tweezers. Remove Shutter Speed Dial/Lever: Unscrew the lever cover by pushing on it and turning it clockwise with a piece of rubber or a suitable tool. Remove the ring underneath (unscrewed clockwise), the lever, and any washers, noting their exact positions. Remove Top Cover Screws: Remove all screws from the top cover, carefully organizing them by position. The top cover should then lift off.  2. Accessing and Removing the Focusing Screen Assembly Access Circuit Board: With the top cover off, you gain access to the internal electronics and the flexible circuit board (PCB). Desoldering: The main challenge is that the flex board needs to be moved to access the focusing screen. This often requires desoldering one or more wires to pull the board out of the way or fully remove the mirror box assembly. Remove Focusing Screen Holder: The focusing screen is held in a frame with four small screws above the mirror box. Hold the frame as you undo the screws. Carefully remove the screws. 3. Installing the New Focusing Screen Insert New Screen: Hold the camera with the lens mount facing up. Secure the Frame: Reinstall the screws, ensuring it locks into place securely.
