Join us for Get to KNOW, conversations with faculty and staff at Queensborough Community College, where they share exciting projects, research, and initiatives they're working on. Irvin Weathersby, Jr., is an Assistant Professor in the English Department. A former high school teacher and educator who has worked in Baltimore, the Bronx, and Harlem, he teaches creative writing at Queensborough Community College and in the MFA program at City College. His writing has been featured in Esquire, The Atlantic, The Root, Killens Review, and EBONY. He has received awards and fellowships from the Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundation, the Research Foundation of CUNY, Bread Loaf’s Writers Conference, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Mellon Foundation. Weathersby’s book In Open Contempt – Confronting White Supremacy in Art and Public Spaces was released in January 2025. He shares reflections from his national book tour and on being short-listed for the 2026 PEN/John Kenneth Galbraith Award for Nonfiction.
