Today I review the Neumann TLM103, a large diaphragm condenser that has become quite popular for voice over. This thing has a broad boost from 4-15kHz, but at no point does it sound harsh. It remains smooth sounding. Additionally, this thing has an amazing proximity effect that allows you to beef up your voice, and offset some of the presence/treble/air boost. It also sounds great on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and singing. All around, if you’re looking for a bright microphone, have a treated room, and have a budget around $1,100 this mic is a great option.
