Fix pacman repo. System will not update otherwise: ** After the installation, run fixpacrepo from the terminal. Origin: Liya is developed in India by a single developer, Sayed M. Hisham, with plans to expand the team. *** Very Important. System will not update otherwise: ** After the installation, run fixpacrepo from the terminal. Welcome to Liya, a next-generation Linux distribution built on Arch Linux. Liya is designed to provide a seamless blend of efficiency, security, and simplicity, making it the ideal choice for modern computing needs. With the user-friendly Cinnamon desktop environment, Liya offers a powerful and intuitive experience tailored to enhance productivity. https://liyalinux.freeflarum.com/ https://liyalinux.freeflarum.com/d/5-... ################################### After installation, it’s recommended (but not necessary) in my experience(s) it is at this time Oct 2024 completely necessary to update the system. Use the command line for the best results: Fix Pacman Repo run: fixpacrepo update: sudo pacman -Syyu && reboot select yes on deleting gpg key ############## You may see the following commands: NOT NECESSARY Refresh the mirror list: sudo mv /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.bak && sudo reflector --latest 10 --sort rate --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist Refresh the keyring: sudo pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring chaotic-keyring Update the system: sudo pacman -Syyu After updating, restart the system. ###################################################### flatpak installed by default AUR helper paru installed by default paru -Ss simplescreenrecorder Like screenfetch,etc.. ufetch-liya ################################# To turn off motivational quotes and/or ufetch-liya: in .zshrc comment out motivate and/or ufetch-liya save and exit https://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?is... From N4S1 review: 'beyond being an Arch-based desktop distribution, Liya doesn't seem to be trying to fix a problem or fill a niche. The project doesn't seem to have found a specific goal yet and it still needs some polish. I feel like it needs more time to mature before I'd recommend it over other Arch-based desktop systems'. For custom clock: https://www.strfti.me/ My settings: %a, %b %e %n %I:%M %P Installed by default: ttf-ms-fonts 2.0-12 [installed], inxi, flatpak, hardinfo2 ############### For virt-manager: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Virt... virt-manger requires: sudo systemctl enable libvirtd.socket sudo systemctl start libvirtd.socket OR: reboot ################### Con: Had to uninstall timeshift. Would not update without running timeshift, eating up too much disk space. echo $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP So another Arch-based distro hits the stock piles. I have been happy with the arch based part of the system. Some things have apparently been known since at least May 2023 & are still an issue. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me on why they/he has not fixed the pacman repos yet. Especially before the latest release was unrolled for general use. Come on... Give LiyaOS a spin and see what you think & let me know down below somewhere. Thanks! I'll be Archin' on...
