Modeled from two actual consumer VCRs, each with its own personality and sonic character: 1979 JVC Vidstar HR-7600U — One of the earliest home VCRs ever made. Heavy, noisy, and built like a tank. When driven, it delivers a surprisingly smooth distortion with a unique bass boost. 2001 Panasonic PV-V4521 — My actual childhood VCR, used to record late-night TV and bad movies off cable. Driven hard, it produces an extremely flavorful, gritty overdrive. The result is a plugin that instantly brings you back to the beautifully nostalgic, imperfect world of analog home video. But it’s more than just a time machine, you can push these decks far beyond their original purpose unlocking entirely new tones: gritty, overdriven textures, unexpected harmonics, and character-rich saturation that goes well beyond standard VHS flavor.
