Knowing how to use a caravan torque wrench is a must-have caravanning skill. Everything from the bolts that secure the caravan body to the chassis, to the ones that fix the tow bar in place to the bolts that secure jacking point brackets to a chassis rail need a specific amount of force or torque to tighten correctly. The same goes for caravan wheels: if you overtighten a wheel, you might strip a thread or crack the bolt hole. But if you don't tighten enough, the wheel can work loose. So, how tight is too tight or not tight enough? Fortunately, wheel and hub manufacturers know precisely how much force is required and publish this information as a torque setting. And in this video from Caravan Information Services, we explain how to apply this information and use a torque wrench correctly. #caravantorquewrench #torquewrench #torquewrenches Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 00:37 How a Torque Wrench Works 00:48 Where to Find the correct Torque Setting 01:07 Adjusting the Torque Wrench setting 02:14 Tightening the Wheel Nuts 03:17 Extending the life of your Torque Wrench You can find more help and guidance on related topics in our 'Help and Guidance for Caravanners' playlist here: • Help and Guidance for Caravanners Caravan Information Services (CIS) is the UK’s most comprehensive online destination for caravanners and motorhome owners looking for information, advice, perks, and live chat support for complex technical issues or emergencies.
