🐕 Ziggy found a home. The full story... A decade ago, amidst the chaos of a township fire, 40 puppies were rescued and brought to safety. Among them was a little pup named Ziggy. The shelter, overwhelmed with new arrivals, managed to find homes for only half of the puppies. Sadly, Ziggy was not among the lucky few. For years, the shelter became his world. Ziggy had been in the shelter for 3 years when a new chapter opened for him. Ziggy joined an animal-assisted therapy program, where children would engage with shelter dogs for mutually beneficial interactions. He quickly became the star of the program — always kind, cheerful, and unfailingly obedient. His gentle spirit brought joy and comfort to everyone he met. That’s where he first crossed paths with Ciara who would change his destiny forever. By late last year, however, the shelter noticed something concerning. Ziggy, now a senior, was showing signs of kennel stress — a common plight for older dogs. That’s when Ciara stepped in. Earlier this year, she brought him home, giving him the loving family he had waited so long for. A few months later, I had the privilege of capturing Ziggy’s newfound freedom on film as he explored the windswept shores of Noordhoek Beach with his new human by his side. Now, in his well-deserved ‘retirement,’ Ziggy’s days are filled with joy. He spends his time taking long walks, running on sandy beaches, napping in the warm sun, and playing in the garden with his furry friends.
