World leaders bid farewell to diplomat Kofi Annan

World leaders and royalty paid their respects to one of Africa's most famous diplomats, Kofi Annan, at his funeral in his home country of Ghana. There was also a moving tribute by his wife, Swedish lawyer and artist, Nane Maria Annan. She described how her husband was always excited to return home and thanked Ghana for giving the world such an extraordinary man. She said her husband had an irresistible aura of radiant warmth. UN secretary-general, Antonio Guterres, on his part said Annan was an exceptional leader who saw the UN as a force for good. Annan's last journey was a climax of three days of mourning which saw thousands of Ghanaians file past his coffin as it lay in state in the capital, Accra. Annan was UN secretary-general from 1997 to 2006.
