Here we are looking at the Catenary component in Grasshopper, which we used as part of our script for the British Museum Roof, yesterday. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀. 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆. They have a distinct mathematical form, and by adjusting parameters such as the length, sag, and orientation, users can generate different variations of catenary curves to fit specific design requirements. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀.
