00:02:25 - Our DATV Experimenters night broadcast started with Rex Moncur VK7MO in the studio with a wonderful description of the latest AR magazine article featuring Rex’s Dad Len VK3LN and his Mum Phyl. Len was one of the first amateurs in Australia to build a TV transmitter and receiver and transmit and receive pictures via radio. 00:10:00 - Rex’s Mum wrote a column in AR magazine in the 50’s called YL Corner and Rex showed a 1957 YL Corner called “The harmonic” which was written about Rex growing up through his teenage years. Great memories thanks Rex. 00:17:00 - Rex then took us through his time as Director of the Antarctic Division when Dick Smith asked for permission and assistance for his flight to Antarctica. Rex related the delicate situation with the United States and their position on providing assistance to outsiders. 00:33:35 - Rex then outlined his article about the VK-ZL contacts made by himself and Richard VK7ZBX and the learnings about tropospheric ducting - definitely more to come in this space, thanks Rex. 00:48:35 - We then got Richard into the Studio and went through the AR magazine article on Richard’s 1.8m EME portable rig. Thanks Richard. 01:00:00 - Richard and Justin VK7TW then went through a summary of the John Moyle Memorial Field Day operation and the Meet the Voice event at Ross. 01:08:20 - Justin then showed the final matching network arrangement for the 30m end fed with pictures and the NanoVNA results. 01:11:10 - Justin showed the Vacuum Capacitor he bought from Bryan VK3KWB at the Meet the Voice event and the plans he has for a 30m / 10MHz Magnetic Loop and there will be more about this in the next show. 01:15:10 - We wrapped up with a reminder of the future events. 73 & Stay Safe.
