Eye of the Tiger became the classic motivational song of the 80s as a result of the movie Rocky 3. What I find even more motivational than the movie and the song though is the real story of Sylvester Stallone. Here was a guy who, before he became rich and famous, was so financially broke that he couldn't even afford to feed his dog, 'Butkus'. So he sold his dog for $25 and walked away in tears.. Although practically homeless and without money, he found refuge and inspiration at the New York library through books. It was through this, and watching a boxing match, that his destiny was born. Right after the watching the boxing match, he wrote for 20 hours straight until he was literally shaking with inspiration. The story of 'Rocky' was born!. Then, he went out and tried to sell the script to agent after agent. They all turned him down as they thought the story was 'dumb'. Eventually, after seeing thousands of agents, he was offered $325,000 for the script as long as Sylvester did not play Rocky, as they thought he looked and sounded stupid. But he declined as he was committed'to acting as Rocky.. Eventually, the agents compromised and gave him $35,000 with Sylvester to play as Rocky. The first thing Sylvester did with the cash was to attempt to buy his dog. The new owner was very reluctant to sell his dog back. But, eventually, Butkus' was bought back for $15,000... That is the story of how Rocky was born! The equipment I use: Drums: The drum kit I am playing here on this video is a Mapex Orion. Its a 6 piece drum kit. Tom sizes 10, 12, 14 and 16. Cymbals: The cymbals are all Zildjian: A series... Moongel: I am a fan of moongel on all the drums. It dampens the sound and makes it more punchy... If you have a problem with overtones, definitely give it a try... Microphones: I use Audix microphones Bass Drum Pedal: The pedal used here is an Axis longboard.
