After nearly 4 years of having our property rented, our renters have decided to leave. The process of locating new tenants and doing the necessary renovations is not only extremely time consuming - It's a heck of a lot of work, not to mention VERY EXPENSIVE! To keep costs down we typically take care of most of the renovations ourselves. If it falls within my skill set, I'm doing it! And if it doesn't? Well... Looks like I'm acquiring a new skill. The downside to this is that everything takes sooo much longer. We're currently in the process of getting estimates to get the popcorn ceiling removed and I guess we'll go from there.
