He termed the October 7 attack by Hamas as barbaric and asserted that India follows a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. He also warned that double standards on terrorism will not be tolerated and called for global unity against it. During his address, PM Modi also mentioned a unique coincidence, noting that he was born on 17 September 1950 — the same day India formally recognised Israel.
