Forest harvesting with Komatsu X19 prototype

Is this the future of forest harvesting? The Komatsu X19 is a prototype machine for ”cut to length” forest harvesting. It´s a combination between a forest harvester and a forwarder, the setup most commonly used in the nordic countries. So far (november –14) it´s only built in one single prototype. In this clip you can see how the method with direct loading is carried out. The movie is shot in Västerbotten county in northern Sweden on november 6 2014 with a GoPro camera. At this certain location the trees are small, close to a bog, and a mix of spruce, pine and birch, which have to be sorted on the machine. Enjoy!
