My answer, simply, is that they are very different instruments and I love both. I have received many questions asking whether or not I think the Rav drum, or the handpan is" better." Handpans provide an amazing array of tunnings, types of steel, and percussive potential, but at the cost of tensile strength. Ravs are limited in the scale variety (and many in B), but are more durable for travel and use outdoors. For the most part, ravs suite my style of playing and lifestyle best, but I love Handpans, equally! The video discusses MY experiences traveling with these instruments, and provide a basic sound comparison between the two. BOTH are amazing instruments and they are not really comparable, tonally. This is clearly not an exhausted explanation of both of these instruments, but I wanted to give you a general overview of my experience. If you can, try them yourself and see which one works for you!
