When aiming for a high level of realism in our pastel drawings, I always want to break down the layering process as much as possible. For this silver coloured fur which I haven't drawn much in the past, I found capturing more of the fur colour at the base was important. I didn't want to influence that with the details otherwise the fur would look more multicoloured but adding those warmer tones to the base really enhanced the depth.
