Storyline (SPOILERS): This is basically Dan's perspective of life ever since his sister passed away from suicide. After losing his sister, he couldn't do anything else but only blame himself for everything. Evan and Ash, who are his bullies, or "ex-friends", constantly blames him for her death, which is something Dan already does in his own mind. Dan’s father doesn't believe his poor mental health. He believes that Dan can just snap out of it, which is why he often lashes out at Dan when he appears aloof. Dan’s mother is more understanding. She tries to comfort him when his dad isn’t around, usually by saying the same things, "Things will get better. You are my son, and I love you no matter what.". But Dan doesn't believe that. Dan believes things won’t get better. He also has had a hard time letting people in, because deep inside, he sees himself as a “monster”, and he's afraid that if he ever lets somebody in again, they'll do the same thing that Danalyn did, and that all he would ever do is hurt them. He feels really lonely, but also refuses to let anyone in. He feels that he's stuck in a loop with no way out, and the only way he saw to get out of the loop was to take his own life. To take away the "monster" he is, so nobody else will be harmed any longer. I do not own the audio in the video.
