In this video I explore how to backup and restore patches on the Roland System-1 You have to backup patches that have been created on the Roland System-1 to your computer. Roland did not include a cartridge or SD interface slot for the System-1 so this has to be undertaken via the USB interface to a computer. Likewise to to restore patches to the Roland System-1 you also have to use the USB interface to the computer. Background The Roland System-1 was released in 2014 and continued in production until 2022. The Roland System-1 is 2 types of synthesiser. The synthesiser uses Analogue Circuitry Behaviour (ACB) modelling to generate software driven synth engines. It comes with the System-1 synthesiser engine which is a basic 2 oscillator synthesiser. This is a modelled engine based on legacy analogue circuitry, but not modelled specifically on a classic Roland Synthesiser. The synthesiser also has a PLUG-OUT position which allow the musician to load in other modelled classic synthesiser engines which Roland has made available as a subscription through the Roland Cloud application. The classic synthesiser engines are: SH-101, PROMARS, SH-2and System-100. I have found that I use this synthesiser to provide base lines to my compositions which aligned to the 2 octave keyboard that is native to the instrument.
