Pripyat is a bizarre, post apocalyptic ghost city, evacuated and abandoned after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster on 26 April 1986. The population of almost 50,000 people were told they could return to their homes once the deadly radiation levels had subsided but they never did. It has been left as a stark memorial to the damage we can cause to our environment if we neglect our responsibility to protect it.
